Levels 5 + 6
5: KORMC Race Licence – Introduction to racing
6: SACU Competition Licence – Sporting code, rules, and race strategy
Duration: 2.5 hours (30 minutes preparation and 2 hours coaching)
To achieve the level 5 certificate the student should be able to:
- Recap Level 4, repeat if required.
- Ride in ruts.
- Show an appreciation of different surfaces.
- Ride in all weathers.
- Prepare vision systems.
- Transfer weight from front to rear and pull a wheelie.
- Attempt a competition start safely.
To achieve the level 6 certificate the student should be able to:
- Recap Level 5, repeat if required.
- Ride the track safely and consistently for multiple 15-minute periods.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of the different types of flags and what they mean.
- Sign on to an event independently and understands the legal importance of this.
- Demonstrate an awareness of the different competition classes.
- Show basic awareness of nutrition and hydration in relation to training and competition.
- Transfer weight from rear to front and get the back wheel in the air
- Pre-load the suspension to jump a gap
- Experience close non-contact riding, overtaking techniques and protective riding, (provided by the coach in a controlled and structured manner)
